Put the squeeze on space
By ANDREA RADKE, Calgary Sun

With September here, college and university students are returning to classes and dormitory life.

We decided to ask the experts: What are some great decorating and space-saving tips for living in a college dorm?

The key to decorating a dorm is to have fun with it, says Ari Afaganis, an interior designer with Art Form.

"It's all about being creative. Ikea is great for students who want to liven up their small space and keep it affordable."

One great tip is to use a screen to separate one room into two spaces.

"You can get these great screens that divide the space up. They hang from the ceiling so you can use them to divide the space for privacy or even to cover your closet doors which makes the space seem a lot bigger. You can even create a small area for dining if you like."

Staying organized is also very important when you are living in a smaller space.

"You really need to stay organized so pay attention to storage."

Using clear storage bins isn't the greatest way to clean up a space, says Afaganis.
